Culpeper Garage Addition

This client had a house with an existing garage but no other utility buildings for storage. We built this garage to allow him to store his tractor and additional equipment in it.

The Goal

The goal was to create a garage that complemented the house while incorporating a barn-inspired look suited to the rural setting.

Details That Made the Difference

• We added a beautiful cupola to the roof.
• We created barn doors on the upper gables to echo the area’s traditional barns.

Challenges

The biggest challenge was creating a flat space on the side of the hill while still making it look like it was built at ground level all the way around.

Solution

We poured a concrete wall to support the slab, then backfilled around it to create a natural slope away from the garage and make the building appear level with the ground.
